| It still amazes me that some Christians that I counsel for jobs and career transitions attempt to do the job search all by themselves. Sure, worshiping God is great for Sunday, but why bother him with your jobs needs? One simple answer. Because He is God and he wants the best for you...in all things. It appears that Christians do not feel they are sometimes worthy of calling on God in their hour of need. I do not want to bother him with this challenge. I do not want to appear selfish!
First we need to understand that asking God for his blessings in our job search is not begging.
John 7:37-38
If you are thirsty, come to me! 38If you believe in me, come and drink! For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water will flow out from within.
When we are seeking employment, depression and frustration can invade our peace of mind. When we are challenged or face uncertainty, Satan takes this open door opportunity and sometimes makes us doubt our faith.
Hosea 7:14
They do not cry out to me with sincere hearts. Instead, they sit on their couches and wail. They cut themselves, begging foreign gods for crops and prosperity.
The Lord will work with you if you allow him to. Self-centered pride has no place in our relationship with the Lord. Allow the Lord to direct you. Stay in prayer and focus on His will, not yours.
Isaiah 55:3
Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake. I am ready to make an everlasting covenant with you. I will give you all the mercies and unfailing love that I promised to David.
Matthew 11:28-30
Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.
The Lord will remember and reward those who stayed true to His Word and direction during times of trial and tribulation.
Psalm 106:4
Remember me, too, LORD, when you show favor to your people; come to me with your salvation.
Proverbs 11:25
The generous prosper and are satisfied; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
Insights:
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Hebrews 13:7
Remember your leaders who first taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and trust the Lord as they do.
